Week 43: Paul’s Roman Citizenship

Paul’s Mistreatment
- After the crowd called for his death, the Roman commander ordered Paul to be flogged for interrogation. However, Paul spoke up, revealing that he was a Roman citizen, and it was illegal to punish him without a trial.
Roman Citizenship as Protection
- Paul’s citizenship protected him from the mistreatment, and the Roman commander became fearful for having almost violated Paul’s rights.
- The soldiers immediately withdrew from Paul, and the commander sought to understand more about the charges against him.
Life Applications:
- Stand up for your rights when they are unjustly taken away, as Paul did when he used his Roman citizenship.
