Lord’s Supper Devotion: The Bread of Life
Scripture: John 6:35 (ESV)
“Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.’”
Context and Commentary:
Jesus declares Himself as the bread of life, meaning that He is the true source of spiritual nourishment. In this context, He had just fed the 5,000, and the crowd was seeking more physical bread. Jesus redirects their focus to the spiritual sustenance He provides, which satisfies the deepest needs of the soul.
Devotion:
Jesus calls Himself the bread of life, meaning that He is the one who truly satisfies our deepest needs. As we eat the bread in the Lord’s Supper, we are reminded that He is our source of spiritual nourishment. He fills the hunger of our souls and quenches our thirst for righteousness. Let’s come to Him today, recognizing that only He can satisfy our deepest needs.
