Week 47: Paul Before Governor Festus

Paul’s Case Reopened
- When Festus succeeded Felix as governor, the Jewish leaders once again brought charges against Paul, seeking to have him transferred to Jerusalem so they could kill him along the way.
- Festus, wanting to please the Jews, suggested that Paul stand trial in Jerusalem, but Paul refused, knowing the danger. Instead, Paul appealed to Caesar, invoking his right as a Roman citizen to be tried in Rome.
Paul’s Appeal to Caesar
- Festus agreed to send Paul to Caesar in Rome, setting the stage for Paul’s journey to the heart of the Roman Empire.
Life Applications:
- Know when to stand firm and use the resources and rights available to you, as Paul did by appealing to Caesar.
- Sometimes, we must choose a difficult path in order to fulfill God’s plan for our lives.
- Even when human leaders fail us, God’s plan remains intact.
