Lord’s Supper Devotion: Sharing in Christ’s Sufferings
Scripture: Philippians 3:10 (ESV)
“That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.”
Context and Commentary:
Paul expresses his desire to know Christ more deeply, not only in His resurrection power but also in His sufferings. To share in Christ’s sufferings means to participate in the hardships and sacrifices that come with following Him. It’s a call to be willing to endure for the sake of the gospel.
Devotion:
As we partake in the Lord’s Supper, we are reminded that following Christ involves sharing in His sufferings. The bread and cup symbolize not only His death but also the life of sacrifice He calls us to live. Let’s take this time to reflect on our own willingness to follow Jesus, even when it’s hard. Are we willing to endure hardship for His sake? Let’s ask God for the strength to faithfully follow Him.
